Comparing what I could get at a lower budget bracket versus stretching a bit more. Genuinely unsure whether the extra headroom meaningfully changes the kind of location or building quality available, or whether it's a marginal difference not worth the stretch.
The extra headroom generally buys you into better-managed buildings — a proper lift, backup power, an actual functioning association — rather than a dramatically better location necessarily. Building quality tends to matter more for resale and tenant appeal than a marginal location upgrade. I'd rather stretch for a well-run building in a decent-enough area than max out the location and end up in a building nobody wants to rent from.
Building management quality over raw location is a good way to frame the trade-off, thanks.
