How reliable are the plot listings you find on portals like 99acres, in your experience?

Called about maybe a dozen plot listings off one of the big portals over the last few weeks and more than half turned out to already be sold, or the owner had no idea their number was even still listed. Is that just normal for these portals or am I doing something wrong on my end?

Completely normal, unfortunately. Listings stay up long after a plot is sold because nobody bothers taking them down, agents especially just leave old ones live for the calls they generate. Treat the portal as a lead source, not a live inventory.

That's frustrating but at least explains it, was starting to think I was calling wrong or something.

Also don't trust the brochure images or builder claims on the listing itself, whatever the description says. Verify the LP number and EC independently regardless of how polished the listing looks.
