Trying to work out the total registration cost on top of the purchase price for an industrial shed near Warangal. Different people quote different stamp duty percentages and I can't tell who's right. What's the actual reliable way to get this number before I finalise the deal?
Don't lock in on anyone's quoted percentage, mine included — they get revised and can differ by property category. Pull the current guideline value for that survey number from IGRS Telangana, registration.telangana.gov.in, since stamp duty gets charged on whichever is higher between your agreed price and the guideline value. Then confirm the exact stamp duty and registration figure at the sub-registrar's office for your specific document before you commit to a number with the seller.
Also ask whether an industrial shed attracts any different treatment than plain land in that SRO's practice — worth confirming directly rather than assuming it's identical.
